Frequently Asked Questions
The world of dance can be a new and unfamiliar place for parents and children to explore. We have formulated a list of F.A.Q. to help you acquire a stronger understanding of the art form and what it entails with Front and Centre.
Q: When can I register my child? A: FCDA will accept children as young as 2 ½ provided they are toilet trained and are comfortable with an instructor without the assistance of a parent or guardian present.
Q: How many classes will my child need to take? A: The number of classes taken will depend on the type of program they are in. Dancers in the recreational stream can take one or several classes a week. Dancers in our crew program must be taking the required amount of ballet and jazz classes for their level. They are also encouraged to take as many other different forms of dance to strengthen their technique, and expand their repertoire.
Q: Do you have any boys who take dance classes? A: We offer a superheroes class for boys ages 2 ½ - 5 years old. We also offer Boys only hip hop for boys ages 8-10 years. Boys ages 6 and up can take any classes that fit their ability and age category on the schedule. We are very excited to see so many males interested in the performing arts!
Q: What is CREW? A: At FCDA we have a various levels of crew. These crews are by audition only an dare for the dancers that are looking for more performances experience through-out the year, as well as the opportunity to work with talented choreographers. Dancers must take the required ballet and jazz classes depending on their age and crew in addition to their crew class. Crew is not a competitive team. It is a place where dancers can be with other dancers who are as passionate and focused about dance as they are.
Q: My child has made it into crew, what is the level of commitment? A: If your child has made it into crew then you should be aware of the level of commitment. Most crew dancers dance aprox. 3 days a week. They will be required to dance multiple year-end recitals, and failure to regularly attend class without a medical note will result in the removal of the dancer from crew.
Crew dancers usually perform at a sporting event, festivals, retirement homes and 1 or 2 other events in the GTA.
Extra costumes and shoe costs may apply.
Q: What is included in the annual tuition? A: Classes from September to June, (or the end of May for all Tickle Trunk, and Superhereos classes.) as well as the costume for the year-end recital. (Additional cost for crew costumes may apply)
